Before you log in
Check the room on your paperwork
Your notice, summons, undertaking, or release order tells you where to appear, and whether you may attend by Zoom at all. Some appearances must be in person. If you are not sure, ask your lawyer, duty counsel, or the court office before the date.
If a link does not work
Courts change rooms and links, and this is not an official court list. Join with the link first. If that fails, go to zoom.us/join and enter the ID and passcode. You can also dial 1-855-703-8985 or 647-374-4685 and enter them by phone. The Ontario Court of Justice publishes its own virtual court information. If you still cannot get in, call the courthouse right away. Missing a court date can lead to a warrant for your arrest.
Do not record the court
Do not record, photograph, or take screenshots of a court appearance. Section 136 of Ontario's Courts of Justice Act generally prohibits it.
Finding the room is the easy part.
What happens once you are in it depends on your charge, your court, and what the Crown is asking for. Daniel Brown Law can tell you what to expect and appear for you.
