Sexual assault charges in Barrie
Whether the investigation came from Barrie Police or an OPP detachment in Simcoe County, the Crown has to prove the same three elements: an intentional touching, sexual in nature, without consent. If any one is not proven beyond a reasonable doubt, the charge fails. The maximum is 10 years, or 14 if the complainant is under 16, and a conviction can bring sex offender registration. Assault charges in Simcoe County
The charge depends on how force was used: simple assault carries up to 5 years, assault with a weapon or causing bodily harm up to 10, and aggravated assault up to 14. None has a mandatory minimum, so a discharge remains available on all but aggravated assault. Impaired driving charges at Barrie court
An impaired driving, over 80 or refusal charge in Ontario suspends your licence for 90 days right away, before any finding of guilt. A first conviction means a criminal record, a minimum fine of $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the charge, and a driving prohibition of at least one year.
