Lauren understands how overwhelming it is to face criminal charges and be up against the seemingly limitless resources of the State. She believes fiercely in evening out this power imbalance for clients by ensuring that Charter rights are protected, possible defences are explored, and the other side of the story gets told. Lauren’s favourite quote, “each of us is more than the worst thing we’ve ever done,” will form the basis of her practice philosophy as she embarks upon her legal career in criminal defence.
Lauren obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Ottawa, graduating cum laude in 2022. She honed her written advocacy skills as a Legal Writing Leader for the Faculty of Law, as well as in her capacity as a practicum student at the Ontario Court of Justice. At the Court, she researched complex criminal law questions and drafted memoranda that laid the foundation of the Judges’ decisions. Lauren has worked for Daniel Brown Law since 2021, gaining valuable experience dissecting cases ranging from sexual assault to murder.
Prior to law school, Lauren obtained her undergraduate degree in the social sciences from Vancouver Island University. In her second year, Lauren received the President’s Scholarship for Continuing Studies in the Bachelor of Arts, a full-tuition scholarship awarded to a top-achieving student. By meeting the high GPA requirement, she maintained this scholarship for the remainder of her studies. After graduating, Lauren lived in Malawi, Africa where she worked for a non-profit organization advocating for youth smallholder farmers.
Lauren speaks English and some French. You can reach her by phone at (416) 297-7200 x114 or by email at rogers@danielbrownlaw.ca.
